You just received your order and...it looks different. You have ordered it many times and it was always white or a light cream color. This time it is a dark tan color. Is there something wrong with it??? NO! Your cream is fine. The reason it is darker is because the honey bees put a darker color pollen in their wax this time. We always talk to our bees early in the season and tell them we want white wax. But they don't listen. Also, bees sometimes get propolis in their wax. Propolis is a substance bees make to seal up their hive. It is one of the most highly antibiotic materials in nature and it is black to dark brown. It can make the cream a darker color. But it is ok. Natural antibiotics are good for your skin and the darker pollen does not hurt either. There is always some pollen in beeswax and the color of the pollen can vary widely giving Waterblocker Skin cream different color tones from one year to the next. Waterblocker Skin Cream can exhibit some water separation due to the natural (but weak) binder we use to bind the oil, wax and water. If a jar gets on it's side the water can migrate out of the cream and pool in the air space by the lid. Tubes will also do this as they develop air pockets from being squeezed. The water that separates will carry the pollen with it and will usually be darker in color. This is ok too. Just stir the water back in or squeeze the tube to move the cream back and forth to remix. Sometimes you may notice that the cream near the surface is darker than the cream underneath. This is due to water migrating to the surface through natural evaporation. The water carries pollen with it concentrating more pollen at the surface. The darker pollens will make the surface color much darker than that which is further down. The consistency of Waterblocker Skin Cream can also vary. Temperature can make it harder, warmth can make it much softer and cause some water to separate. It may sometimes appear like oatmeal – kind of grainy. This can happen when the ingredients cool too rapidly while being mixed. All of these unusual attributes are normal for natural products. Most other companies use chemicals to prevent color changes, water migration and separation, consistency variations, etc. We figure our natural-oriented customers would prefer that we not use chemicals, especially since the problems they "solve" are purely cosmetic and do not affect the ability of the cream to do its job protecting and softening your skin.
